006 - Hot

It was summer time, so it was no wonder the air felt so heavy, thick and hot. They were gathered in the living room, the air conditioner turned on full blast, and they were too lazy to do anything.

"Hyung, I'm hungry," the youngest said from his lying spot--which was on the carpet by the coffee table's foot.

"Order some take away then," Jaejoong replied from the couch here he was lying on. "I don't feel like being near a stove."

Changmin sulked and Yoochun grabbed the phone, ordering some pizza from the nearby pizzeria. Junsu kicked Changmin's rib, earning a slap from him, and laughed out loud.

"Why are you guys so active?" Jaejoong complained, reaching out to the magazine on the coffee table. "It's too hot to even speak."

"Now that's exaggerating," Yunho commented as he joined him on the couch.

"Get off. You're making me feel hotter," Jaejoong said, kicking Yunho away from him.

Yunho laughed, and snatched the magazine away from his hand, dragging Jaejoong up to his feet. "Come on."

"Where are we going?" Jaejoong demanded, not wanting to leave the comfort of the couch and the air conditioning.

"Somewhere you will love," Yunho said, grinning at Jaejoong, and Jaejoong could only sigh.

Later that day, when Yoosumin heard the water in the bathroom run, they were out of the apartment before extra noises could reach them.

005 - Son

It was always a dream for him. A hope, maybe something he could never have. He always wanted to please others, but this one time, he wanted to please himself too.

The thought of not having a child that he could cradle in his own arms hurt him. Hurt him more than he expected it would. He was a man, and he chose to be with another man. That was one of the sacrifice he had to make, but he was an egoist. He wanted both.

When the news of the surgery to implant a womb inside of a male body came out, he was one of the few volunteers to try out the surgery. His fiance had told him not to do that, but he had insisted.

The day of the operation was right before the day of their marriage. He tried many many times to impregnate himself, but the test result would always be negative.

"Jaejoongie, it's okay, don't force yourself," Yunho said, pulling the smaller man into his embrace to console him. "I love you more than anything, and I can't bear to see you this sad."

"But don't you want me to be happy?" Jaejoong asked back, his face tear-stained. "I want a child, Yunho-yah. I want someone that can remind me of us. Someone to love and care for."

"Jae..." Yunho mumbled, wiping Jaejoong's tears away. "Baby, don't force yourself. It will be given to you in due time. Believe me."

That night, Jaejoong kept crying. However, deep down, his heart screamed, wanting so much to believe what Yunho said.

When they came back from a hospital with the news that Jaejoong was bearing a son, Yunho looked at Jaejoong with a look that said told-you-so, and Jaejoong could only smile.

After all, what more could he ask for?

004 - Late

He was running late, that much he knew. He hated to disappoint, and to disappoint the love of his life was never on his to-do list.

Glancing at his watch, he increased his pace, ignoring the burn at his legs. He willed them to keep moving--to not stop before he reached his destination.

He was panting when he finally stopped before a wooden door. Grabbing the copper handle, he turned it and walked in as silently as he could, taking his shoes off with his feet. He padded towards the dining room, where he knew he would be.

"You're late."

He grinned sheepishly, coming into the small sphere of light created by the scented candle on the candlestick. He leaned down and pressed a kiss on the man's cheek.

"Happy birthday."

The man snorted, and took the gold-wrapped box from him. "Don't be late next time."

"Whatever you ask, Boo," Yunho said, pressing another kiss on Jaejoong's cheek, and moved to sit in his own chair.

Almost two weeks later, Yunho was found working in the dining room so that he would not be late to his birthday celebration.

003 - Sunrise

He walked out to the balcony, a white bathrobe wrapped around his body to protect him from the chilly morning breeze, and sat down on the lazy chair, leaning back on it. He was feeling exceptionally lazy, but getting up at such hour wasn't lazy, was it?

He placed the mug of hot chocolate he was carrying on the armrest, and looked up. The sky was still slight purplish, but the clouds were starting to part, and from that height, he could see the first rays of sunlight peeking from behind the mountains far away--as cliched as it sounds.

He sighed in contentment, eyes never leaving the rising sun. He frowned when he heard a noise, but relaxed again when he heard the door behind him slide close.

"So this is where you've been missing lately," a voice said, almost accusingly, as a pair of arms wrapped around his shoulder from behind, a chin resting on top of his head.

"Yeah," he answered, lifting his mug of chocolate, offering it to the one behind him. "What are you doing up at this hour, Yunnie?"

"Looking for my traitor of a pillow," Yunho said, taking the mug in one hand. He took a sip and returned it to Jaejoong. "I'm still sleepy."

Jaejoong chuckled, and silently drank his coffee. He made no comment on it, because somehow, deep down in his heart, he knew.

He knew that Yunho would turn up to watch the sunrise with him without fail.

002 - Back Alley

He was never a fan of alleys. Heck, was anyone a fan of alleys? Maybe for some criminals, or those who are being chased, but he wasn't in any of those categories, and he hated them.

Especially back alleys.

He was back late after work that day, and he had two options: a) walk through the alley, which is a shortcut, or b) walk the long way around, through a forest. Both didn't seem appealing to him, but he had to choose, because he couldn't sleep over at his workplace.

He had sent a message to his boyfriend, telling him he was back late and that dinner was in the fridge, but he felt tempted to send another one, requesting his lover to call the police search team if he didn't arrive home by midnight.

He walked through the dark and dank alley while his mind was having a war, throwing all the possibilities at him. He shivered in fear, and quickly took out his phone, intending on calling his boyfriend to calm himself.

However, before he could flip his phone open, an arm grabbed him from behind. His eyes widened as an unmeasurable amount of fear set in his heart. He dropped his phone in surprise and instinctively screamed.

Another hand pressed against his mouth, pulling his head back until it came in contact with his captor's torso, and tears welled at his eyes.

"Yah, Jaejoongie, are you trying to get me arrested!?"

Jaejoong looked up from his position, and through his eyes, he saw a blurred image of Yunho's upside-down face.

"Eh? Why are you crying?"

"Yunho you idiot!" Jaejoong near-screamed as he hit Yunho's chest repeatedly, trying to vent out all his fear and frustration on him. "Why did you scare me like that!?"

"Eh... did I scare you? Sorry," Yunho said, pulling Jaejoong into a hug. "I just thought that maybe you would like me to walk you home. When I arrived at your workplace, your manager told me you're going back through this alley."

Jaejoong was speechless. He didn't know what to say, but somehow, he felt as if it was okay not to say anything. That Yunho would understand anyway.

Yunho bent down to pick Jaejoong's fallen phone, and handed it back to its owner. "Let's go home," he said, smiling as he tugged at Jaejoong's hand. "I'm with you," he added, pressing his lips softly against Jaejoong's.

And just like an anti-climatic ending to a movie, only with a simple press of lips on his, all his fear was gone.

001 - Tired

Sighing as he plopped himself down onto the worn leather couch, he reached out blindly for the remote control, nearly knocking the vase of orchids down from the end table. He pressed the red button, turning the television on, and leaned back with a contented sigh.

"Yah, I told you to take off your socks before you laze around. Your feet will get smelly," a voice reprimanded from the kitchen, and he grudgingly slouched forward to take off his socks, putting them in a nice pile near one of the coffee table's feet.

A noise of approval came from the kitchen and he leaned back again, trying to concentrate on the football game rather than on the commentator's excited shouts as one of the players rushed towards the end of the field, nearly making a touch down.

"Don't watch sports when you're tired. You tend to get excited," the same voice reminded as the owner walked into the living room and sat with him. "Dinner is ready," he added, placing a hand on his shoulder and squeezed it slightly.

"Yes mommy," Yunho teased as he grinned widely, leaning forward to steal a kiss from Jaejoong who looked ready to protest. "Let's have dinner now," he added, scooping Jaejoong up in his arms and carrying him to the dining room.

"Yah, I thought you were tired?" Jaejoong asked, circling his arms around Yunho's neck. "You're such a hypocrite sometimes."

"Well, I was tired," Yunho admitted. "But not for you. Never."

"Sap."

"You like it anyway."

And Jaejoong couldn't say no.
